DAIS Telcon - 10/05/05
======================

Chair : Dave Pearson
Notes : Mario Antonioletti

Attendees:
----------

	Mario Antonioletti, EPCC
	Dave Pearson, Oracle
	Allen Luniewski, IBM
	Susan Malaika, IBM

Agenda:
-------

 o Discuss Specification Issues
 o OGSA Data Architecture

Actions:
--------

[Norman] Create a list of options for update of disconnected data sets.

[Simon] Write up the top level IO operation to go in the core spec.

[Mario/Simon/Amy] Look at DAIS issue 1200 and either decide what needs
to done to resolve this and respond accordingly on
Grid Forge or flag it as an issue that needs to be
                  discussed at some future telcon.

[Mario] Continue working on the DAIS contribution to the data
        architecture.

[Susan] Look into how the XML attributes and elements for the resource
properties relate to the DMTF CIM model.

-----

Discussion as to when mappings can be reviewed again in view of Simon's
posting to the DAIS mailing list. It might be possible to share the
session scheduled for CIM to do this. In the meantime feedback should
go back to Simon.

 o Discuss Specification Issues

Discussion as to what the critical issues remain. From Grid Forge
for the WS-DAI core spec have:

  - Disconnected Data Sets
  - Naming
  - Top level default data access
  - Scope of data factory in specification.

Mapping perceived as the main issue.
No one has had much time.

Naming - may not want to tie ourselves to the OGSA naming
scheme. That work is just starting. Put requirements
into that area; possibly in the specs but not to build
         a spec level dependency.

Can regard the name of the conduit as the name for the
	 resource.

Some discussion was also had on what was required to be done about the
other issues.

Most of these issues are falling on Simon who's not got much time.

Dave Pearson will send an email to Simon to see whether he will
have time to address these issues or whether they should be
distributed.

Should also try to see the non-critical issues to see if they can
be addressed.

 o OGSA Data Architecture

Mario has done an update of the access portion to the OGSA
Data Architecture document. This has received some comment
from Allen and the document was discussed at their last
telcon. Input from this was gathered and a new version of
the document will go out when Mario has time. Susan will
have a brief look and comment before the token is passed
on to another party.

Allen reported on the status of the OGSA Data Arch WG - working their
way through the doc. Have weekly calls. Going through about an issue
per week. Have a replications section, have an access section, talk
about storage at the next call. Hope to talk about data transfer at
the face-to-face on 26th May. Hope to have a draft for review for the
next GGF but that requires it to be ready for the 27th May which may
be too early but if significant progress is made at the face-to-face
then the draft may be ready for GGF14.

DAIS needs to push any issues they want addressed at the OGSA Data
Architecture. Thus far there have not been any that directly reflect
DAIS.
