   A former FBI trainee who kickstarted an insider trading scheme by
   looking at the confidential files of his then-girlfriend, a Covington &
   Burling LLP associate, has told a sentencing judge he isn't trying to
   downplay the seriousness of his actions by pointing to her
   "carelessness."
