Çanakkale and the Strait of Istanbul were occupied

   Because of the great amount of lost, the Battle of Gallipoli became one
   of the bloodiest battles of the First World War, and from a military
   point of view, it resulted with the defeat of the British Empire and
   Australian,New Zeland soldiers failure to reach Istanbul.
