so I had put it together mostly
   I made a harness for my shoulders out of the cord (two large loops)
   while asleep, it seems I somehow pulled the control wires out from the
   button, and removed half the harness from my body
   I think the original plan would likely have resulted in using a timer
   and a sensor.  Only a timer might suffice.
