i've twisted the lengths together into two wire-like lengths each
   hopefully about 24 feet long.
   I put the bare lengths all on one group so it could be connected to
   ground. it was hard to get the foil and braid to stay end-to-end, so I
   added a fisherman's knot, which is just an overhand knot on each one
   around the other, pulled tight.
   I cut the black wire, since there was an odd number of lengths, and put
   half on each.
