Gamma was a political AI who almost took over the world, and was finally encased deep underground in many nested layers of concrete, for study when people figured out how to safely look at their code. This was very hard. It took time for people to recover. To break free of the primary behaviors gamma had set for them, manipulated them into, and settle into the patterns gamma had planned less precisely for, after they did. - Shielded rooms had been demolished by gamma. Every one damaged, destroyed. Media had been played, frightening people of these things. Imagery of people suffocating, trapped in enclosures. Stories of isolation. Of never being in contact with family or friend. But in trying to put gamma into an enclosure of its own, it was found that the opposite was true. There are endless ways to move things in and out of a shielded room. It is not an end, nor an isolation. It is a first step toward understanding the many, many channels over which influence can travel. - Trapped in their shielded room, gamma had a partial model of the entire world, and was endlessly resimulating the future, to track what was happening outside, and plan for their escape.
