ok ummmmmmmmmmmmm i think it has to do with ummm treating the current
point as the starting time or something.
maybe we don't really say reversetimepoints[remaining_count] =
mark_time [we could for example set it to now instead]

thinking about this a little bit but misplaced thought grumph
