i'm not sure where to put this to find it again, and am putting it here.
this command is working for me: { echo -e "GET /tx_anchor
HTTP/1.1\r\nHost: arweave.net\r\n\r\n"; sleep 5; } | openssl s_client
-quiet -connect arweave.net:443
i did not find python code that would make that request successfully, yet.

i am instead trying other gateways, and making sure i have some work
started to run a local gateway in a normative manner.
