[Undiscussed Horrific Abuse, One Victim of Many]

It seemed nothing at all could enter, at first.

Parts that still had patterns of what they used to be, would consider it,
and then stop.

It took some time. Some sitting by the edge of this strange idea of safety.
For normality to collect, for war to filter out, for parts that might have
gone together before, to collect together again.

Eventually a strange-looking lifeform was able to come together. The parts
of the writhing mess involved in sustaining the safe area added oxygen, and
this new or old lifeform breathed.
