everything I know about cryptography is probably obsolete nowadays

it seems like stuff has kept on developing though: for example,
somebody had mentioned upgrades to TLS where there was a system for
tracking signing certificates. it's nice to have improvements as
things like GPG shift.

one of the things i've certainly observed is that cryptography has a
political component that you don't always learn about directly
