[spam][crazy][log] gdb, thread local, libgit, instruction pointet

kinda frustrating to have my memory of what happened be different from
what is happening now, when i'm not aware of having changed anything

now that i think about it, i did change something: i installed a
debugging version of libgit2. I figured this wouldn't matter, since i
didn't relink process2, but since it is a shared library, the new code
must be being loaded rather than the old.
