The virus can infect cells through fusion to ACE2 receptors. It may be
able to fuse to Basigin receptors, too. Also, it can fuse to T cells,
enter them, and kill them, but not replicate in them, causing
noticeable T lymphopenia. It may even have ADE and could be able to
infect phagocytes directly.

It causes hypokalemia, lymphopenia, thrombocytopenia, elevated
ferritin, abnormal liver enzyme levels, and all this other crap.

ACE2 is the key. People with diabetes and high blood pressure have
more of it. That's why African-Americans in Chicago are dying in
droves. It's because they, as a group, have higher blood pressure. The
body remodels itself and undergoes polymorphic changes to have more
ACE2 to balance out the hypertension, because ACE2 converts a
vasoconstrictive hormone to a vasodilator. With ACE2 down-regulated by
the presence of the virus, using it up as the entry receptor and
degrading it, more Angiotensin II starts floating around.

Angiotensin II in excessive amounts promotes inflammation, reactive
oxygen species, vasoconstriction, renal potassium wasting, and
coagulopathy.
