That's exactly it.  I found this out a couple of weeks ago, and there has been a discussion on the Cypherpunks list for the subsequent time.  About 5 months of emails have completely disappeared, Feb 14 to July 11, 1995.  But from July 11 to the end of December 1995, virtually all emails with the following strings have also disappeared""jim bell", "jimbell at pacifier.com", " ap ", and "assassination politics".
Since you were a subscriber to the Cypherpunks list in 1995 and 1996 (and possibly later as well) you probably remember what it looked like.  Your assistance on the CP list is needed.
