When I first realized that I was already a libertarian, and always had been, in about 1975, it was always quite clear that Liberals, Leftists, and fellow-travellers hated (or at least strongly disliked) libertarianism. The Right opposed libertarianism because libertarians promoted both personal and economic freedom, while the Right seemed to like only the latter.The Left opposed libertarianism because libertarians promoted both personal and economic  freedom, while the Left seemed to like only the former.
That made 'sense', so to speak.  Not that the liberals and conservatives actually made sense.
