Chief Judge of the D.C. Superior Court found that federal prosecutors
suppressed potentially exculpatory evidence against six Inauguration
Day protesters. In a motion filed late last night, attorneys for the
defendants accused the government of withholding evidence that could
have exonerated their clients — a serious violation of pretrial
discovery rules. Attorneys allege that the state withheld evidence by
editing a video of a protest planning meeting. Defense attorneys
called on the court to sanction Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer
Kerkhoff for “blatant hiding of evidence” and requested that the
indictment against their clients be dismissed.
“The government has abused its power by hiding discovery from all
defendants,” the attorneys wrote in the motion, “purposefully choosing
not to disclose Brady information, and calling into question the
integrity of all of its third-party video evidence and proffers in
open court.”

The primary function of the technology will be to expand the
surveillance and criminalization of adolescents. “Whether it was
intended to be this way or not, the technology is effectively going to
be a surveillance system and not a safety system,”
It is possible that the district will “cut transportation and sports
programs, reduce kindergarten to half days and close elementary school
libraries.”
“In a time when we cannot afford to pay our teachers a decent wage,”
“I cannot fathom any school district paying money for this type of
security theater.”

Collect your baubles, take your kids out of school, and cross the
border. In many ways, life is just fine and free on the other side,
wherever that may be. Or fight, if you can.

people for the entertainment and wealth of white people. When
African-Americans tinker with that formula — by demonstrating in a way
that insults white sensibilities — they are shut down. Perhaps the
only way to fix the problem is indeed to start new leagues with new
owners and managers."
