indeed. and while new "nano-meta-materials" or even larger composites
are being developed at reasonable operating temperatures, these too
suffer from same limitations of range.

so an idealized metamaterial implementing a superlens is what we want,
even if hopelessly distant technology wise...

one day!  :P
