Mirimir, not everyone has access to VPN. I should point out that by
September 2015 in Russia, there is some kind of "tokenization" law
that goes into effect, which actually was adopted in 2014, which
apparently is creating all kinds of hassles for everybody ~ something
about all data having to basically be localized and tokenized and
Russianized basically. In other words, even worse than right now today.

Don't ask me why Russian gov't is becoming probably even more
ridiculous possibly than China. I can't tell you. But you can see
what I mean by looking at this:
http://perspecsys.com/how-we-help/cloud-privacy/russia-data-privacy-laws/
I look at that kind of stuff and I'm just... :-0 hmmmm

Now you mentioned VPNs and so for example there is Cryptostorm's free
VPN, which you can access here:
https://cryptostorm.is

or

https://cryptostorm.org/viewforum.php?f=58 (free! may take some
messing around with and not sure if plays well through Russia)

or our CgAN VPN, yay! (it's free.)

https://cyberguerrilla.info/howto-connect-to-cgan-vpn-server-from-a-linux-computer/

But, not everybody knows about such resources, and many may actually
be blocked from use of some of either the sites where they are
available or may find it difficult to find, download, and utilize the
software packages safely.

Not to say a VPN isn't going to work but more decentralized systems
that also have some of the functionality of VPNs of today may be more
logical to consider. Similar ideas, but new models, is what I am
saying. Think forward. Fall forward.

I do think that the (general) model used by OpenBazaar and ZeroNet is
a very good one and which will hopefully help many people (and the
content they want to get out to the world) resist censorship.

Cheers

- -O
