There's a mostly-annual semantic technology conference called STIDS
(Semantic Technology for Intelligence, Defense, and Security), formerly
called OIC (Ontologies for the Intelligence Community). First day is
public, second day is secret. Focuses on using semantic network
technologies for national security issues.

The list of sponsors and vendors, and most of the presentations are
from companies talking about how well their products work, are useful
to find out companies that analyze various metadata. It's funny how many
are based on open source technologies, like Semantic MediaWiki. :-)
