It is true that forces everywhere use these beacons for medevac,  
extractions, etc.

It's also easy to imagine blinking in code to say "bomb here", though  
since they're easily visible to someone with the right equipment one  
presumes that it wouldn't be a useful way of conduction ongoing  
operations...
