Event Name: Congress and the Intelligence Community
Event Sponsor: The Government Affairs Institute at Georgetown University
Event Description: Open to Civilian and uniformed employees (GS-11 and
above or military equivalent) from any department or agency with an
interest in the intelligence area, the purpose of this four-day workshop is
to increase the participant's understanding of the various ways that
Congress interacts with the intelligence community, and therefore increase
their effectiveness in this environment. Topics covered may include the
politics of defense legislation; the role and operation of the House and
Senate committees that authorize and appropriate funds for the intelligence
community; the issue of intelligence and homeland security; and the
influence of the media and special interests.
