Not bizarre at all.  All the images were very carefully
planned.

The non verbal images, the visuals, put the message that to
protect our ordinary, everyday, innocent way of life, will
require a heavy burden, a lot of warfare, carried out for a
long time, with no quick victories.

He was being asked questions that would reveal the US
military strategy and tactics.
