UPTON ANNOUNCES HEARING ON MEDIA VIOLENCE

WASHINGTON (July 16) - Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), Chairman of the House Energy 
and Commerce Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet, today 
announced a hearing on media violence for this Friday (July 20, 2001) at 
9:30 a.m. in room 2123 of the Rayburn House Office Building.

The hearing is entitled: "An Examination of the Entertainment Industry's 
Efforts to Curb Children's Exposure to Violent Content."

A witness list has not been determined.
