[Co2-bof] Just a small pointer to a SNIA group

Yes,

It will be interesting to see what shakes out in terms of targets and
minimum entry criteria.

There is a very large open question about how we categorise storage
energy performance as there are so many dimensions to what constitutes
storage performance, (size, I/O, latency, resilience etc. etc.).

If you want to join directly rather than paying to join the SNIA lobby
group you can also register directly as a stakeholder with the EPA
program here
http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=new_specs.enterprise_storage.

We registered as stakeholders on the Energy Star for Compute servers and
found the process to be quite productive, even from the wrong side of
the Atlantic. Andrew Fanara (EPA) and his team are smart, reasonable
people with whom we should engage.

Of particular use to the program will be users of storage who can assist
in identifying what the real issues are and what information vendors
should be required to supply about the energy consumption profiles of
storage equipment to assist in selection and management.
