GGF17 should be a pretty gigantic event being coupled with GridWorld Tokyo. It's not too soon to start planning. The official deadline for GGF-17 workshops should be a week after GGF-16. Did you want to structure it just as a set of watercooler talks, or did you want to try to get peer-reviewed talks with a proceedings? --Craig At 03:05 PM 12/12/2005, Satoshi Matsuoka wrote: >Hi Nic, > >Thanks. >Am forwarding to the communicy council so that it can be discussede ASAP. >The GGF17 program is yet to be formulated, but make sure it is on the >radar. > >GGF17 should be a pretty gigantic event being coupled with GridWorld >Tokyo. > > Satoshi > >On Mon, 12 Dec 2005 19:43:57 +0000 (GMT) >Nicholas Walton wrote: > >naw> Dear Thilo, Satoshi, >naw> >naw> as the astro-rg apps community, we'd like to organise a joint one day >naw> workshop in conjunction with the IVOA (see www.ivoa.net) at the upcoming >naw> GGF in Tokyo (May 06). >naw> >naw> The purpose of this email is to ask what are the current procedures for >naw> proposing such a workshop, and importantly deadlines for receipt or a >naw> request by the GGF. >naw> >naw> many thanks, >naw> >naw> Nic >naw> >naw> ======================================================================== >naw> Dr N. I would like to firm this up David de Roure has agreed to join program committee and I am looking for any other suggestions. This will be held in Las Vegas in the week after GGF17 as a "special session/workshop" at CTS06: CTS (Collaborative Technologies and Systems) is IMHO a very reasonable conference which I have participated several times. I note I have been very busy recently and I am later than I hoped in getting call together. All I would hope GGF does is give advice and send out email notice about meeting plus listing somewhere on web pages. I think in exchange GGF will broaden its Grid coverage so I see this as win-win for GGF and CTS06 Thank you * * -- : : Geoffrey Fox gcf at indiana.edu FAX 8128567972 http://www.infomall.org : Phones Cell 812-219-4643 Home 8123239196 Lab 8128567977 : SkypeIn 812-669-0772 with voicemail, International cell 8123910207 -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
