Grid-Enabling Legacy Applications and Supporting End Users Workshop
(GELA)

within the framework of the

15th IEEE International Symposium on High Performance Distributed
Computing
HPDC'15
Paris, France
June 19-23, 2006

The workshop will present existing solutions for gridifying legacy code
applications, and for supporting the development and usage of Grid
applications. It will bring together Grid researchers, current and
perspective users. Researchers will present the available Grid solutions,
while users will demonstrate existing Grid applications and define their
requirements towards their Grid applications. The workshop aims to reach
user communities, which do not have even basic knowledge in Grid computing
presenting both developers' and users' views on the Grid.

The goals of the workshop are:
" To gather information about existing solutions for gridifying
legacy applications,
"	To present existing high-level Grid user environments,
"	To identify the key application requirements and scenarios towards
the Grid,
"	To provide a forum for exchanging the ideas between the Grid
application users, application developers and Grid developers,
" To broaden the Grid community by encouraging new users to use the
Grid technologies.

The workshop is seeking papers and poster presentations from different
areas of Grid computing, especially those concerned with applications.
Suggested topics for papers and posters include, but are not limited to,
the following:
" Gridifying legacy code applications,
" High-level Grid user environments,
" Application requirements towards to Grid and its infrastructure,
" .Experience in both, converting existing applications and designing new
applications to run on the Grid.

PAPER SUBMISSION
Authors are invited to submit technical papers up to 10 pages to the
workshop web site: http://www.cpc.ac.uk/gemlca/hpdc-gela/submit using the
IEEE 8 1/2 x 11 CS format. Appropriate style files can be found at:
ftp://pubftp.computer.org/Press/Outgoing/proceedings/Format.pdf. Papers
that exceed this length will be rejected. These papers should be written
to be self-contained and to provide the technical substance required for
the Program Committee to evaluate the paper's contribution. All
manuscripts will be reviewed and judged on correctness, originality,
technical strength, significance, quality of presentation, and interest
and relevance to the conference. Submitted papers may not have appeared in
or be under consideration for another conference or a journal, nor may
they be under review or submitted to another forum during the review
process.

PUBLICATION
Papers presented at the workshop will appear in the HPDC workshop
proceedings CD published by IEEE Computer Society Press and given to all
participants at the workshop.
