Discord's "How Discord stores billions of messages" leaves out details
The blog post mentions race conditions, setting author_id to 0 for deleted messages (???), and a public discord server that deleted millions of messages which would be reloaded every time the channel loads. I guess they don't set channel_id to 0 either. Strange access control function. I may as well say it, certain law enforcement interfaces for social media sites use pre-designed features for shadowbanning. Snowden's documents are shit.
