Yahoo is sued for gross negligence over huge hacking http://www.reuters.com/article/us-yahoo-cyber-lawsuit-idUSKCN11T2LF ==== Yahoo Inc (YHOO.O) was sued on Friday by a user who accused it of gross negligence over a massive 2014 hacking in which information was stolen from at least 500 million accounts. ... Ronald Schwartz, a New York resident, sued on behalf of all Yahoo users in the United States whose personal information was compromised. The lawsuit seeks class-action status and unspecified damages. ==== Pretty sure Yahoo have disclaimer they are "gross negligent", so the suing is doomed, unless the morons failed to make such disclaimer.

Jesse Worley said he'd received a cheque for $650 from Microsoft – seen by The Register – which he told us he'd received after threatening the giant with court action over an unwanted Windows 10 upgrade. === Don't know if this is true, theregister appear yellow journos.
Give the grandfather's situation, I can understand the suit in this case. Personally though, as much as I dislike Windows, Win10 has been a pleasant experience for me comparative to XP, 7, and especially 8. Granted, I don't have a great deal of use for Windows generally, and my usage is restricted to inside VMs. Dunno what it would be like on the iron. Nevertheless, it is pretty cool to get a check from Microsoft.

Quoted for self-parody value, or worse.

Not exactly check (lusers are constantly checked), but m$ offers some kind of online money to use their lovely browser on windoze 10: ==== http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/08/19/microsoft_promises_free_terrible_cof... Microsoft is so keen to attract users to its Edge browser that it will pay people to use it. ==== Consider taking part in this. Paying for using windoze coming soon, I heard.

Meh. Nowhere near lucrative enough. I can beat that 'handily' with regular sperm donations.
I logged into an old yahoo account I haven’t really used in years…. it had a RACK of messages from yahoo starting around Sep 12 - “Unexpected sign-in attempt hi John, On XXXXX , we noticed an attempt to sign in to your Yahoo account XXXX from an unrecognized device. If this was you, …. <snip> “ There was about 1 of these a day from Sep 12 - Sep 23 (the day I logged in for the first time in a year or two+). I did have a weak as fuck password on this particular account… maybe I should join up with the class action guys :P Anyway, I changed the password, now I’m actually thinking I’ll just delete the account. Fuck Yahoo! John
