ByScience NewsApp: "Government corruption tops 5th annual Chapman University survey of American fears"
NEWS from Science NewsApp https://phys.org/news/2018-10-corruption-tops-5th-annual-chapman.html "More Americans are afraid than ever, according to the 5th annual Chapman University Survey of American Fears. The 2018 survey revealed that government corruption remains Americans' primary concern, and the state of the environment, which for the first time represents fully half of Americans' top 10 fears. This year, each of the top 10 fears are held by more than half of the population; in 2017 only five of that year's top 10 fears were expressed by at least half of Americans, indicating that overall fear is on the rise and is also more focused on the environment than in previous years." "Americans' Top 10 Fears in 2018 (percentages include those who answered afraid or very afraid):" "1. Corrupt government officials (73.6 percent)2. Pollution of oceans, rivers and lakes (61.6 percent)3. Pollution of drinking water (60.7 percent)4. Not having enough money for the future (57 percent)5. People they love becoming seriously ill (56.5 percent)6. People they love dying (56.4 percent)7. Air pollution (55.1 percent)8. Extinction of plant and animal species (54.1 percent)9. Global warming and climate change (53.2 percent)10. High medical bills (52.9 percent)" "The annual Chapman University Survey of American Fears provides an in-depth examination into the concerns of average Americans, tracking changes and trends over the years. The survey asks about 94 topics ranging from government, health and environmental matters, to disaster preparedness, the paranormal and personal anxieties. " "Two striking changes have emerged since 2016. First, a 13 percent increase of Americans who fear corrupt government officials, which tops the 2018 list with nearly three-quarters (73.6 percent) of Americans reporting being either "afraid" or "very afraid" of corruption. Notably, there were no significant differences in fears by political affiliation. Second, Americans are increasingly worried about the environment. Not a single environmental concern made the top 10 list in 2016 but in 2018 five of the top 10 fears are environmental in nature." "The 2018 fear survey results illustrate a continued shift in the primary concerns of American citizens," said Christopher Bader, Ph.D., professor of sociology at Chapman University. "It is worth noting that the fears regarding corruption and the environment have increased significantly following the election of President Trump in 2016 and all top 10 fears continue to reflect topics often discussed in the media." [end of partial quote] I've got a solution to that problem I first published my AP (Assassination Politics) essay about 23.5 years ago. https://cryptome.org/ap.htm Has anyone claimed, since then, that a problem doesn't exist, with governments? I don't recall that. Has anyone (else) claimed that they have, or even there is, an alternative solution to the problem of corrupt government? I don't recall that, either. Some people have reacted negatively to AP, which I interpret as not LIKING the AP idea. But they do not explain why we should continue to tolerate government at all, or say why there is any other solution. Jim Bell
So removing three major sectors... government (1) government scam over money (4,10) environment (2,3,7,8,9) ... what's left for the human fear response to tackle is the sector of bio / genetic hacking (5,6) Huge greenfield and risk reward for potential investors there. Expect major exploration to happen sooner than later. Follow closely, place your bets.

notice that the objects under 'scientific study' aka american subjects are afraid of 'corrupt' agents, not of government per se. And it would be pretty funny to find out what 'corruption' means to the fine 'scientists' doing the poll.

Polling their corruption? That of their procurers and funders? That would cause them to lose their government jobs. They would have to find true and marketable work for themselves.

oh interesting - there's a handful of holdouts...
Abject forced indoctrination at its best.
"Look, if the slaves want guns, let 'em be! Our supremacy doesn't depend on weaponry With schools, media, money and meds, we control every Aspect of your lives through ideological hegemony But if you think you need guns to stop tyranny Then whatch'a waiting for, we've already stripped you of your Liberty, privacy, civil rights and dignity... You want some more? " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxHvHi-MdIM

Well, what we need to do is learn about the methodology of this poll. Did the surveyers merely ask, "What are you most afraid of", or did they suggest the subjects: Was the example "Corrupt government employees" provided to them?
Indeed. I'e expect those sorts of polls to be rather biased, by default.
Also, I suspect that a lot of the results of this survey reflect, more or less, the product of the news media's commentary over the last few years.
Yes, yes. It's a feedback loop.
The news media, most of them anyway, loved Obama, and many of them currently hate Trump. That position has presumably rubbed off onto the public.
So 'progressive' obomba did everything a textbook example of fascist would do. Mass surveillance, war, trillions for corporate welfare, etc, etc. And trump is just like obomba except he's 100% white instead of just 50%.
And, I suspect that "corrupt government" is often, even usually defined as "government controlled by people that I don't want to see control it".

That may indeed be "corrupt", but perhaps they have no problem with "corruption" if done by the people they WANT to see in control of government. Jim Bell

In the US that is probably true. Note - i dislike ALL of these candidates and presidents but here is my rundown on corruption of the last few presidents. Nixon - moderately corrupt but he got caught Carter - not very corrupt. The thing with his brother being the touch of corruption. Reagan - moderately corrupt Ford - not effective enough to be corrupt Bush I - moderately corrupt Clinton - heavy corruption Bush II - more corrupt that Bush I Obama - not very corrupt but very authoritarian He did eventually get rid of Hillary Trump - heavilly corrupt businessman Hillary - probably more corrupt than Bill

Lets look at this with real events and try to figure it out. Where i live out in the sticks of the Northeast it is pretty corrupt. A town clerk actually pocketed over a million dollars of tax payments in a small town. ...And so far she has gotten away with it. - --- Marina
