Is there still a current open source Solaris targeted to SPARC? I seem to recall that Oracle closed the latest stuff back up... (which seems absurd) I wonder how Linux or the BSDs run on SPARC... I have a few netra t1s collecting dust, haven’t been used in years....

Yes they did, it is, and they lost.

Those were 64bit ultrasparc ii's. All OS below should be ok. The opensource version of solaris kept going and is now here... https://www.illumos.org/ https://www.freebsd.org/platforms/sparc.html https://www.openbsd.org/sparc64.html https://wiki.netbsd.org/ports/sparc64/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Linux-supported_computer_architectures NetBSD and Linux still run on just about anything, like DEC Alpha64 too.

so where's the proof that IBM processors are not backdoored? Of course it doesn't exist. >AMD Radeon RX 480 and where's the proof that the video card isn't backdoored? Plus I expect it to require amd firmware? >Western Digital WD40EFRX 4 TB SATA drives, which you wrongly assume are not backdoored....why? Oh, but at least the workstation is really cheap. Only $7600. A bargain.

No shit?, this is real news?, really? People have been posting firmware exploits news and plausible backdoor theories here for years.
>AMD Radeon RX 480 and where's the proof that the video card isn't backdoored?
The choice of output device is yours. If your screen is lying to you, you can hook up a teletype and print reams of openly readable trees straight up your backdoor asshole if you like.
Plus I expect it to require amd firmware?
Then go write JuanWare for it, be fucking awesome bro.
>Western Digital WD40EFRX 4 TB SATA drives, which you wrongly assume are not backdoored....why?
Oh right, people posted sprites mods. zaddach, iratemonk here too. Nice try.
Oh, but at least the workstation is really cheap. Only $7600. A bargain.
Already posted the lowest entry cost for builders here, thus your number is $4300 too pointless. As you've exhibited few skillz to source and assemble your own box it makes sense you'd only see and post the $7600 prebuilt. No worries, everyone is good at something. Though due to your tendency to go around rage smashing with your little aspie hasbro hammer, it's not recommended you buy anything but cheap Intel hardware anyways. Your services are needed. Here's a hammer... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4g4v20QhyQ ...lots of closed hardware / companies out there to keep you busy while others work the other angle of building and buying stuff that gets closer to #OpenFabs and #OpenHW. Have fun ;)

lmao - you are even more of a fucking idiot than I thought. By the way, the 7600 bargain price doesn't include the processor. So add 1200 more.

wait I actually misread the crowdsupply page. The quoted price is not 7600 as I thought. It is fucking 17,600!! LMAO Not to mention you still have to buy the CPU - so that's at least 1200 more.

[fake news]
If you bothered to actually *read* instead of raging as usual, you'd see the crowdsupply was for TALOS-I Power8 which was unfunded and obsoleted for TALOS-II Power9 as quoted. Now go get your little hammer and work that shit out. You can come back when you learn to play nice.

if you were able to write in a clear manner....the point remains : that shit is overpriced, useless and doesn't even exist.
