Yes. It held it for moderation based on too many cc's. It was from a subscribed address, so as moderator I let it pass. It didn't seem wackier than our usual list traffic. One of the options is Mailman is to require moderator approval for a subscriber's first posting. I could enable that if desired, but it would mean that the people who keep changing their subscribed email addresses (you know who you are!) will need to wait for moderation. If there is clamor for tighter moderation, this is one of the semi-automated tools available. - Greg

Given there are no other lists to choose from Browser requests for https://cpunks.org/ should end up here https://lists.cpunks.org/mailman/listinfo/cypherpunks not here https://lists.cpunks.org/mailman/listinfo

It's not that big of a deal ;). Standard mailman layout. But a nice suggestion, I guess.

Would make for more informative splash page for people and web indexers. Today there are also some redir from /cpunks.org/ , did not check them but if not already, they should probably use appropriate protocol redirs that indexers are likely to follow, as opposed to any solely html body interpreted redirs.
I'm still intending to get the archives from 1992-2015 up on the site, and will need to set up a new list to test integration. It's possible we will need a second list just for those archives. This is because there are thousands of messages with bad headers, and I'm concerned that Mailman might (a) get direly confused, (b) intersperse old messages with new messages, or otherwise break the more recent archives. If this is happening, it might be better to have a separate list, just for the older archives. What I'm talking about is a nice browsable archive (by date, thread...), in addition to by-month mbox files as well as the multi-year mbox files. But if it can all be integrated, I will do as you suggest below and have the main site to go the (only) list, rather than to a listing of one list. Stay tuned... I've been plugging away at processing the archives, and hope to get something ready for review in the next couple of weeks. It's around 92,000 messages in a little over 500MB. (My personal first posting to the list in the archive was from September 2000: 19 years ago!) - Greg On Fri, Sep 06, 2019 at 02:35:23AM -0400, grarpamp wrote:

Either of those would work in those cases, or create an overall first page of hello info with links to them.

Right, massaging imports is work, especially peoples randomly corrupted mboxes. Here mboxes tend to get linted and fixed just enough to correctly split into maildir, then all the rest of unbreaking... header, antispam, dates, attachment, etc... and dedup get dealt with. Harder choices are header culling and despam. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_breaking
Stay tuned... I've been plugging away at processing the archives
Cypherpunks is just one book in pglaf, don't let it take too much time from any greater mission.
