Yep, though the things i would really like to see shutdown are still business as usual. I bet they have not cut the power to that government data repository out west somewhere. Even at bargain basement costs i bet they could make a billion selling all those servers to the highest bidders. The army is still working, though they are under threat of no paycheck soon. I think they have to make up the hours, unless it was someone that didn't actually get a vacation... Certain emergency staff, military, etc. Maybe that's just contract workers though - actual federal employees could be just as you say.
