[log][personal][ot] digital strangenesses
this ipad's gps began thinking it is in washington a couple nights ago, and hence now sets the time 3 hours in the past
when i left this building and went out into the city it seemed the time might have been displayed accurately again. then when i came back it seems it is 3 hours fast again. i was getting my times all wrong from this, so i went into settings and my auto-detected timezone was cupertino. i disabled autodetection and manually set it correctly and now i can pretend my world is consistent again, which is very helpful for meeting the small goals of life like scheduling appointments.
i’ve gotten used enough to, maybe you could call it social phishing?, that i actually managed to notice my first on reddit with enough confidence to hit report strangely the report button said the message didn’t exist. i coincidentally also had open in the background the conversation with the person i helped use an ai endpoint who then got suddenly depressed and left the community and deleted his account once it worked. it’s not visible in the shot, but it’s notable in retrospect that the later depressing comments are posted differently than the earlier comments.
2023-06-27 - i used to keep a phone with radios removed as my second factor - nowadays i have dissociative-disorder trouble removing radios, so i have a phone i keep in airplane mode - today i charged this phone up for the first time in months. it booted without airplane mode: it found a tower and connected. this is the first time i have ever seen this phone without airplane mode, and i have booted it from dead battery a number of times. the battery was dead for many months and airplane mode was enabled on bootup. however, it did start behaving a little sketchy these past couple years. funny pauses navigating it. usually airgapped phones are snappy. usually on boot i am prompted that i want to remain in airplane mode, which i wasn't this time. it has a boot password, so it's unlikely the wrong prompt was selected by accident in my pocket, as the password would have been wrong to complete bootup. i do use the same password for other things.

looks like my bittrex 2fa was reset on 2023-06-01 . i have an email in my inbox saying this. i did not find accompanying emails around that date in my inbox or outbox with their support services.
looks like this one's likely bogus, you can request this just via the web interface On 6/27/23, Undescribed Horrific Abuse, One Victim & Survivor of Many <gmkarl@gmail.com> wrote:

the ipad i use for everything is mysteriously signed in as other people from other states to department store websites i didn’t really realize this until i accidentally bought something under one of their names (“Byedam”) although with my money
looks like: - my baffo32@gmail.com address is registered under the name Byedam Cali at walmart.com (i do not support walmart) the home stores have been new york and new jersey mostly
interface says the account is 7 years old. i’m not finding emails from them prior to today.
[today went much much better for me, internally, than i had feared it could last night.] today i stumbled on a day shelter, part of a church, offering free wifi, and asked around it; their internet was down, so i asked if i could look at it, they didn’t know where the modem was i nmap’d the gateway from my phone. at first it found port 53 open, and i could get domain names off it. i thought maybe it was another dns glitch, and i found a public laptop set up and configured it to use the router as domain server wondering if it would magically work. no. no domain names on the laptop. ok, my phone was still on cellular data, so i thought maybe there was a gateway on my cellular network with the same ip address as the wifi gateway? i turned off the data, and did a full nmap over the whole port range like i was probing an unknown home router decades ago. it took a really long time. all ports were filtered this time. i also monitored a packet log of the dhcp assignment with my phone, which looked fine, but i only saw arp and dhcp packets from the router, nothing else. in the dhcp, the router said it was a unix system, which to me is new, dunno, not that worldly. started wondering if it was a real unix routing system with tuned firewalls and such, which would be cool. it had a local domain name that i think was associated with the church. anyway, my phone turned itself off when i started exploring further, and started bootlooping. during one of the first few boots it mismounted my sd card, instead mounting an old hidden partition i had from a previous flash of the phone. i had written the previous image’s encryption key into the hidden partition, and this file was displayed to me in the file manager when i went to look what was wrong with the sd card, i don’t remember how to mount that partition manually. poking at the bootlooping it seemed like something to do with mounting of the sd card is now crashing the phone. i’ve just now troubleshooted it enough to get back online, with thr sd card mounted as i expect, by chance, but should probably find an alternative device if i want to rely on this.

the bootloop was because there were so many directories on the sd card that it wouldn't complete fsck before a system watchdog expired. the hidden partition was not mounted; it was the normal partition, remounting. i'd forgotten the key was on the root folder; i must rarely use the files view. i don't why it remounted, but it was mostly coincidence that this was the first moment it remounted since the watchdog threshold regarding number of directories was reached.
i'm coding in vim and running into a clear slowdown right now as i type, some of my previous typing is getting persistently inserted in the middle of my typing i have to keep deleting stuff it's notable i appear to have a quick reflex for doing that but it's so persistent i'm really noticing it right now
i'm briefly in the parking lot of the closest walmart to the university in akron, ohio and unlike other walmart parking lots, the wifi here is gated with a portal that uses javascript and forwards to different sites i logged in via the portal but it wouldn't stick on my laptop, but would on my borrowed ipad after a reconnect. when i reconnected on the laptop, it asked me to log in again, but wanted to forward me to www.cnn.com, accept a certificate chrome deemed incorrect, and then be forwarded from www.cnn.com to www.walmart.com to be logged in. it's possible that the access point is filtering to only allow devices online with compromised ssl cert stores.
This morning I tried to go to lichess.org via tethered connection on my phone (t-mobile network) and encountered an OpenDNS content block. I also went to mail.google.com and encountered an OpenDNS content block. Presently accessing the web via tor-over-http-proxy.

Phone was low on battery for tor and tried a flat http proxy again today. Looks like the DNS filter on my t-mobile connection is no longer configured to block games and mobile email (the only two things I tried before switching to tor). Weird fluke.
i haven’t had success accessing basic html gmail even though the informative text says it lasts until 2024 (i mentioned basic html gmail going away in spinoffs thread) this happened slowly, where ways i found to access it stopped working i’ve stopped trying for now, which reduces the usefulness of my gmail as my systems are slow.
[ yesterday i played chess online with someone and related a lot of had-to-express things about myself to them. i added them as a friend and invited them to a multi-day game.[i appreciated that my issues playing were easier for me when playing with them.] tonight i went to find the conversation. i was logged out of my account for the first time in years. they were no longer listed as a friend, and i didn't find the game in my match history. i tried to visit their profile page while logged out (in case they had blocked me) and it said the user did not exist. ]

looks like my lichess.org game history is now empty since october 27, despite playing yesterday, this would be why i didn't find it
one of the things i mentioned in the conversation that was lost was that, to handling having been hypnotized to always fail, and using lichess.org to practice in that situation, i had found some success for a time using puzzles maybe because i didn't win against anyone when playing them, but i think i said that i talked about this or something and that my bad part learned faster when i talked, and so it didn't work as well anymore i mention this because i noticed my puzzle history is not missing, whereas my game history was wiped for a month, which significantly impacts the digital record of these different impacts on my behavior (private puzzles vs games with other people)
i said something like that a hacker used my own computer to hypnotize me to always fail, and that i had discovered this might be a dissociative disorder i also said i was on a road trip to my therapist
to follow up here, it turns out on the day i complained of this i had forgotten i had two accounts and was logging in with the other one than i had used the past month, and things seem mostly on the up and up digitally regarding lichess.org for me as far as i am now telling, aside from me being signed out which could be explained by dissociative behavior.
i'm using busybox myself. it appears the issue in your version seems to be that printf must use parens - so the obvious fix would be to just add
The problem was that the % escapes were getting output verbatim into the minishilka file, such that %type became %%type and %%\n became %%%%\n,
i'm experiencing some digital difficulty with my laptop broken and html gmail disabled early at the same time and this ipad running at a slower crawl than usual. I also may be having heavily site-dependent internet bandwidth. At https://github.com/rofl0r/agsutils/pull/36 : parens, rather than remodeling the string for print usage. preventing parsing with either minishilka or dino shilka. This was hard for me to find, involving comprehending the shilka format from your code. I have busybox v1.33.1 on alpine linux 3.14.2 . For some reason awk's printf didn't parse escaped %'s for me. This seems a very very strange behavior of a printf function, which the other developer also did not intuit. I'm worried the pull request could get closed if it is a weird local change to my device.
re the agsutils associated issue, alpine says in an issue linked from that one that the bug is gone in later releases so they’ll backport a fix if a fixing commit is identified. somebody said they reverted to -r3, i’m not sure whether they meant in public releases or locally, if public that would be a lot of security patches reverted and not normal. - chess.org is down. it pings and connects on port 80 but doesn’t connect on port 443 and hasn’t given me data on port 80 although i haven’t let it time out. tried from multiple sources via checking websites. chess.org is the website i found to play chess without websockets which don’t seem to work through my phone internet.
chess.org came back up btw pasted from other thread. note: i had added soup kitchens to the phone manually. i had a digital strangeness today, there were fake spots for where soup kitchens were in my phone. it took me to the library and the courthouse. shows value of physical paper. at the courthouse it said “authorized personnel only” where i drove to turn around i could be in minor trouble. part of me really thinks this digital strangeness shows malicious access to my phone, so it’s pretty hard to add to the digital strangeness thread. i have a lot of them and add only a few. i’ll copy paste what i wrote.
