i think we might be guessing that judgements figured that the small code would be less susceptible to harmful stopping or have less lashback later ... or it could be a heuristic/guess/habit around offline things being better than dangeorus things ...

MPM is a _core_ _mainstream_ algorithm, likely to be supplanted but currently used for a _lot of things_ also, _learning it can bring you up to par with fluid simulations in blockbuster movies
