this is something we see in the real world. per my example of "enforced silence", there are various things that "activate" or "trigger" or etc people when mentioned.
for example if you say "mafia" to some people they'll get serious.
sadly many of these are actual things that need mentioning and can be severely important.
additionally different groups seem to disagree on what is crucial to mention, vs taboo
i do like the idea of learning these triggers and navigating the social space with great wisdom. this is the best path.
unfortunately when you get trafficked yourself this becomes much harder due to amnesia. amnesia is the common denominator of trafficking and severe coercive symptoms.

we're working on watching it. a simple example of this problem is for example, what do you do if sex traffickers come to your happy city and set up a brothel in front of the children's library. what i would guess usually happens is: some people get trafficked, some traffickers get arrested, a lot of people get scared and coerced, and the adult and child communities slowly gravitate to separate areas in response to the severe danger to both of them, and similarly everybody slowly learns habits that protect them from the dangers, without really understanding why but more emergent like evolution
