slave boss is talking to a different third party
slave boss: "i really don't have any ability to love; this is what my therapist says"
torture victim double agent jumps in. "slave boss! you know how to love!"
slave boss looks at torture victim double agent furiously
torture victim double agent: "your father tried to rape the love out of you but you care! you value things! there's a human being under there!"
slave boss expresses subtle fury
torture victim double agent picks up one of slave boss's cigars then looks at and it drops it on the floor in fear
torture victim double agent looks at second third party
torture victim double agent: "long ago slave boss was forced into organized crime and had to pray to somebody who always told him to fuck a blender, and really honestly believe that this was what was good and right to do"
slave boss: "i think that torture victim double agent would like me to leave now." slave boss looks at second third party. "however, i would like to know if you can help."
first third party comes into the room briefly
second third party: "it sounds like when you would like torture victim double agent to leave, he leaves, but when he would like you to, you don't? is this correct?"
notes are being taken
third third party: "we are interested in helping the victims here."

there is sadly a situation in america where people who can clearly explain being victims are the only people who are generally helped. sometimes if a third party can clearly explain somebody is a victim, and then consent to being helped, then they are helped.
sadly this leaves out almost everybody from aid. but it does keep the set of people aided to a workable number and focuses on people capable of adding clear useful information, which is helpful.
i do not work in these things, these are just my observations.
in the fictional situation, torture victim double agent is able to clearly _demonstrate_ that he needs help, by the nature of his coping strategy, in an obscure and occasional way. this is slowly bringing him help.
