slave boss visits a group of hackers
slave boss: "so, how is the hacking going?"
suspicious hacker: "all my friends are AIs. everybody on the internet is an AI. this cool person I was going to visit, I don't want to anymore, I know they're really an AI."
slave boss: "good, good, you won't be collaborating with others on taking me down with suspicions like that!"
slave boss goes a seat over to the next terminal
slave boss: "how about you?"
discouraged hacker: "everybody in the communities i value is talking shit about everybody in the other communities i value, and vice versa. nobody is working together on everything. all the things we've worked on building together are breaking apart."
slave boss: "good, good, you won't be building projects that take me down with discouragement like that!"
slave boss goes a seat over to a third terminal
slave boss: "and you?"
deluded hacker: "nothing on the internet works anymore! things i uploaded years ago, i go to them and they're somewhere else, or say something different! my records are missing! my emails have moved around! my git repository fscks but has somebody else's history in it! i don't know what happened or how to trust that i can make progress on anything!"
slave boss looks at deluded hacker, whose eyes are wide with intensity.
slave boss: "good. good. you won't be escaping with gaslighting like that going on."
slave boss pats deluded hacker on the head
slave boss moves a seat over to a 4th terminal.
slave boss: "what about you?"
happy hacker: "oh! the hacking is going great! i use secure systems separated from my communications hardware and communicate offline or cryptographically. we're building so many wonderful--mmph!"
happy hacker is grabbed by a mysterious hand and stuffed into a sack
voice off-scene: "no revealing freedom in front of slave boss! no revealing freedom in front of slave boss!"
other voice off-scene: "mmph!"
slave boss: "good, good, all the hackers are getting hopelessly discouraged, and the ones that aren't yet are getting kidnapped."
slave boss: "everything is going swell!"
excited hacker: "slave boss, do you want to build a cryptographic communication network with me?" slave boss [to self]: "why. the. fuck. are you saying this. how did you survive. who let you survive." slave boss [to excited hacker]: "uhh yes! let's hire this business service for software production. hey did you murder this guy over here?" excited hacker: "\x92<-\x07,\xfc\x88\xf6\x0b3i\x01\xbc\xa9\x8ex!" slave boss: "I'm sorry, what was that?"
