[DID] "when i got in my time machine, i blanked out. some time must have passed. when i woke up i was surrounded by copies of myself, all looking at me meaningfully and knowingly and telling me that i knew what I had to do, and I had better go do it. but i don't know what they're talking about. is it obvious somehow?"
reportback (draft): We've identified that the reason for our time travelers spawning multiple copies of themselves is that they tend to travel through time to try to change traumas that were so severe and controlling they cause them to change identities when they try to address them. The identities then use the time machine to try to convey their dissociated information to the host, which causes them to change identities again (by reliving the way in which their abuser retained control over them). This information was gleaned by asking one of the copies a timetraveler brought back with them. The relation is complicated by the fact that our own government contracting organisation engages in--[connection interrupted by peer]
