now we could compare the idea of having a blind surgeon (big eek for sighted people!) to having advanced robotic surgery, where the robot is able to address things humans can't (or don't within a reasonable price)
omigod you can finally rewire the nerves of my paralyzed part ... i don't care if the expert guiding you is blind at this point
i wonder how hard it is to rewire nerves!
i wonder this because i have facial paralysis ;p
i asked the nerve surgeon [if he could return feeling to my face and he cited a standard saying that this was not required
i don't know the numbers, but i think the scales at which nerves are out, the scales we think of are like miles. going on long car ride across state lines, would be following ganglia to see which ones go where. don't really know, maybe it is more like space travel, or more like walking down the block, don't really know
[of course that's why axons carry signals, you can trace them by stimulating them to fire. when i had a nerve conductivity test doing this it hurt like frack, half from unexpectedness of each stimulation
