When speaking of the disparity of wealth in global income earnings it is not a matter of 1% of the population who have the most income. Well, that is one way of analyzing the situation. Often one compares the richest 1% of people and compares their wealth against the median 50%. That is one way. Another way is to look at the percentage of people who have incomes at the top 1% of the scale for all salaries paid to people. 32000 USD/yr represents the entry point for the top 1% of salaries paid to people the world over. 99% of people make less than that, per year.
