just making a topic for this for completeness, not seeing much the value of exploring it in depth atm basically hertzbleed shows how a subtle influence from code details can be used, with accumulated and chosen data, to reconstruct information at a distance. there's a lot more influence from things than a cpu's frequency scaling. a _lot_ . and this stuff is happening now with transformer models: picking up what things are based on complex data with degrees of removal from the information in question. could clearly be used to crack cryptography, but it seems other things are building.
