To clarify, the worst injury that could occur if a prosecutor pursues a weak case is having a worse percentage win rate when he decides to talk up private practice. The idea that a prosecutor's self-gain overrides other considerations is heretical, but in terms of cause and effect, an unrelated party can be faulted for a prosecutor's timidity, and for the prosecutor's notion that they are representing the victims to whom they've so utterly lied to.
