regarding the audio jack, i made my best audio jack repair ever, while ignoring most of the other device internals! {{--
i put bigs gobs of solder on the pads and heated them so it flowed in and, then put hot glue on top so that screwing the case back on would pressure them into place like a shock absorber.
dunno if it will work but it works now since i just made it (hasn't broken yet). i like to think of it as invincible !
This audio jack never broke again! :D and I just resolved its second problem. The second problem was static noise and glitches that I infer was from hot glue that snuck into the jack increasing the resistance/impedance (since changing the earbuds didn’t seem to help). This was handily addressed with isopropyl alcohol on an audio plug. I put rubbing alcohol on a sponge, rolled the earbud plug on it (it left dirt on the sponge), then rolled the plug around inside the jack, and now the signal is great! I didn’t even turn off the device to do this. Next time I’d just clean the inside after performing the repair and see if can make an audio jack impervious to breaking.
i'm better at fixing audio jacks from that state of mind where i transcribed a course including it to this list a couple years or so back
