Having checked my math it looks like 50 million nodes could run a UBI network serving five billion with 5k USD equivalent per year. Such a system now looks as inevitable as the welfare state did a century ago. So far so good. The rise of the intelligent machines complicates matters though. SKYNET, in a word. But this not need be a worry. The net crashing, then rebooting into dystopia need not be a factor if an old idea of mine works against it. Imagine an internet backed up dynamically and statically. Three internets! Recall the fictional Raman's always did everthing by three's. First the existing net is placed in constant motion - everyone a remailer - then an encrypted copy is cloned and uploaded into the cloud. Periodic matching backups - snapshots - might then be stored offline. The net in a cold wallet! All this would cost, sure, but the cost of not acting means everything. The net is allready globally essential infrastructure. Losing it now means losing everything. We can't afford that! And having a genuine cryptoanarchist cybernetic makes it impossible for any SKYNET scenario to develop. I trust you will agree with me though the AGI danger may be small there are also potential threats out there from intelligent alien species infuriated by some insanely idiotic plans to physically colonize wilderness planets. Chance favors the prepared mind. Risk management is part of that. Thank youse for yr time here today
