Unless something really strange happens, McCain takes over the commerce committee. He's not as bad as Hollings on DRM, which is damming with faint praise, but hardly laissez-faire in general. His drive to sell out consumers for the special interests from Hollywood may now be blunted. It will be interesting to see which Republican is selected to replace him and what policies are emphasized in the coming term.
