The subpoena could be related to this matter: http://cryptome.org/cej-target.pdf For those not familiar with the murder of US Attorney Thomas Wales in October 2001, there's a long account in The New Yorker, August 2007: http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2007/08/06/070806fa_fact_toobin FBI standing offer of $1million reward for nabbing the killer: http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/seekinfo/wales.htm Greg Broiles offers an informative archive of the trial and conviction of CJ: http://parrhesia.com/cj/ This is not to suggest that CJ had anything to do with the Wales shooting. However, there may be a connection to this forum's yelling about government officials "needing killing." More documentation on this in Greg's CJ archive. In contrast to this grim shit, read the uplifting spin of Cypherpunks on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cypherpunk

From the Broiles archive:
The documents are made available in .PDF form for two reasons - because of the difficulty of achieving good results with consumer-grade OCR systems, and in order to provide a modicum of privacy for the people peripherally involved. Their names and participation will now be available, but not easily searchable or indexable by automated means. Heh.
