HOWEVER, surely there should be a -request address for cypherpunks to which should be in the Sender: field so that fail reports go back to the list maintainer and not the originator of the article. Why do encryption in the modem instead of the host cpu?

A point that hasn't been made painfully clear yet: "DSP--Digital Signal Processor" chips are really just fast processors for repetitious arithmetic--just what RSA needs. Maybe some experience in programming them for that sort of purpose would be useful.
