Let's say I have a (paper) document which explains how I (for example) embezzled money from Megacorp, Inc. I presume that the Fifth Amendment means I cannot be forced to produce this document.
Bad assumption. Written documents, even if written by you and even if it incriminates you, can be subpoenaed. I forget the case that set the precedent for this, but it had to do with someone's diary.
