I think in many ways that traffic watching can and does often reveal more information about someone than at time listening in to what is actually being said.
I think this is an extremely important point. The US precedents regarding traffic analysis (e.g., telephone "pen registers") are very anti-privacy. I would not be at all surprised to see decisions saying that law enforcement could use the Chipper ID anyway they liked, without a warrant. Phil
