Cypherpunks themselves are opposed to complete anonymity. They insist on being able to track down and silence whoever (ab)uses the remailers to distribute homophobic or otherwise politically incorrect traffic. Just search the archives for their advocacy of "identify escrow".
Actually, this is false. We (if I may speak for "us") don't care who the spamer is, as long as they shut up.
