OK, I have a proposal that consolidates two threads that have been discussed recently. How about proposing legislation that mandates that a byte is now 9 bits instead of 8. This would allow the ninth bit to be the decent/indecent bit, thereby solving all of our problems.
Hmm. In the days of COCOM (a relative of ITAR) there was a doctrine that individual pieces of a mosaic may be unclassified, yet together they may form a whole that needs to be export-controlled. Likewise 8-bit values 0x46,0x55,0x43,0x4B may not be obscene individually, but together they comprise a vile, CDA-prohibited obscenity. --- Dr. Dimitri Vulis Brighton Beach Boardwalk BBS, Forest Hills, N.Y.: +1-718-261-2013, 14.4Kbps
